How it works
An implant is a titanium or titanium-zirconium post that the jawbone grows onto, a process called osseointegration. Straumann's SLActive® surface is chemically active and hydrophilic, so bone cells attach sooner, while the Roxolid® alloy is stronger than commercially pure titanium — allowing narrower implants where bone is thin without giving up strength.
What it means for patients
Faster integration can shorten the wait between placement and the final tooth, and a narrower implant sometimes avoids a graft altogether.
